Call for Proposals

Because Science Matters. And Your Expertise Matters.

Every year, educators lead sessions at the Conference for the Advancement of Science Teaching (CAST), presented by the Science Teachers Association of Texas (STAT), that help fellow teachers discover new ideas, strategies, and inspiration to bring back to their classrooms.

Deadline Extended! The Call for Proposals for CAST26, November 12–14 in Houston, is open through June 15.

A Message From the CAST26 Chair

Why Present?

Presenting at CAST is an opportunity to contribute to the science education community, share what's working, and grow professionally as a leader in science teaching. Presenters may be:

  • Experienced science educators
  • First-time presenters with innovative ideas
  • Returning presenters sharing new perspectives
  • Experts in science education and related fields

Thinking about presenting, but unsure if you're ready? If you've attended sessions and wished there were more examples for your grade level, deeper exploration of a topic, or more classroom-tested strategies, that may be your signal. You're ready to present.

CAST welcomes proposals that are practical, engaging, and grounded in real classroom experience—whether this is your first presentation or your tenth.

Session Types

  • Workshop (1 hour): Hands-on sessions focused on strategies educators can take back to the classroom.
  • Extended Session (1.5 hours): Deeper learning experiences with more time for exploration and discussion.
  • STAT Chat (20 minutes): TED-style talks highlighting a big idea or emerging topic in science education.
  • Poster Session: Share strategies, lessons, or classroom tools in an interactive showcase format.

What to know about poster sessions at CAST26: Poster sessions offer an interactive way to share classroom strategies, tools, or lessons using a prepared poster and table space. Educators may also present a lesson showcase, sharing lesson resources and how the activity fits within a larger unit. Poster sessions are a great option for both first-time and returning presenters. Posters will be displayed in the Exhibit Hall on Thursday, November 12, and Friday, November 13. Designated poster session times will be shared later.
