CAST23 Field Guide to Science TEKS in the City

ProgrammingThe CAST23 Field Guide to Science TEKS in the City highlights six scientific learning locales in Houston, featuring science activities for groups and individuals, TEKS-related content and guiding questions, fun facts, and more! The locations include:

  • Houston Museum of Natural Science
  • Houston Zoo
  • Children's Museum of Houston
  • Houston Botanic Garden
  • Houston Aquarium
  • Space Center Houston

The Field Guide to Science TEKS in the City is free to use before, during, and after CAST23. The Field Guide can be accessed online via PDF or via the STATCAST mobile app. You can print the PDF if needed. A limited number of copies will be available onsite at CAST23. You can embark on a self-guided tour of one, several, or all of the Field Guide learning locales. Grab a friend or colleague, or set out on a solo excursion!


Traveling to and From the Learning Locales

Driving? Check out the interactive map here for driving instructions to the learning locales via Google Maps.

Using METRORail or METRO bus? You can travel to many of the learning locales via public transit. Access the RideMETRO mobile app or plan your route from the METRO website.

Prefer to rideshare? Rideshares, such as Lyft or Uber, are also an option for getting around Houston.

The Field Guide includes guiding questions related to the Science TEKS. At each locale, you might consider: What connections to math, technology, engineering, and/or social studies might you make through this experience? What connections might students make? Refer to the TEKS as needed:
